What brings creativity to life?

Posted on Apr 9th, 2007 by Bucketworks : Transdisciplinary Iconoclast Bucketworks
We write about creativity, and we aspire to it. We guess about it and define it. We create programs, offer suggestions, brainstorm, and bounce it around. And sometimes, its spark alights within us the charge to make real our gifts.

Like we stood in darkest ages, breaking stone on stone to make life's spark survive cold nights alone, the creative light needs our attention and fuel, our strength and cleverness. The actions we take and the places we make together form the source of our creative lives.

What makes the creative within us come to life? What animates your ideas, your spark, your light? What:
simple things
places and space
words and ideas
gentle movements
sounds and tones
textures and shapes
and add to this list
become, through you, a created life?

Love makes space

Posted on Apr 17th, 2006 by Bucketworks : Transdisciplinary Iconoclast Bucketworks
Love is connecting me to people who make space for my being. And I never knew how much of my being is made possible by the gift of that space until recently. I never really understood, really felt the connection. I say connecting because it is a present; not a past, not a future awareness.

I am inspired by the patience that others have for me, and in that inspiration, I find love connecting me to them.

The deepest love I have known is that which makes space for my mistakes. Here I am shouting out to the world, on the cover of newspapers, saying "Mistakes are okay," but silently adding, "except when I make them." In this subvocal murmur I take away the space that I have been given; I remove the value. I fill the space that the love has made.

I realize that I am being as passionately in the world as I should be within myself, and then immediately realizing that I can.
